Police in Kitale are investigating an alleged assault by residents on their area MCA Ben Mulipuko.
Area politician Sitati Maboni who spoke to Hot News said the residents were reacting to his poor development record.
Sitati said Mulipuko had been sent to donate sh.5, 000 at a funeral by area Leader of minority Emmanuel Waswa but only gave out sh.2, 000.
The incident took place at Falkland area in Kapomboi, Kwanza constituency.
Both Maboni and Eboso Munubi who have been contesting for the seat in the past elections had asked the MCA to tell residents what he has done for them.
Eboso alleged that Mulipuko has been crisscrossing the ward telling the electorate that he bribed him with others which led them not to contest in August 8, 2017 elections.
Maboni alleged that the MCA had organized more than five goons to beat up those who are opposed to him.
But while answering the first speakers, the irate gathering started to shout at Mulipuko.
However, several well built men he had allegedly hired started punching and kicking the hecklers.
The situation forced Mulipuko to cut his speech short, he was roughed up and his clothes were torn.
Kenya Police Reservists arrived and dispersed the gathering.
The MCA is said to have reported the matter at the Matisi Police station and police are investigating the incident.
The relationship between the MCA and other politicians who did not make it in their respective parliaments has been frosty as most of the times he allegedly denies them a chance to speak during public gatherings.
Last year, Mulipuko was shot on his leg during a funeral ceremony of Likuyani MP Enock Kibunguchy’s driver in the neighboring Kiminini ward.
He has so far healed.
Hot News contacted Mulipuko for comment on the incident but calls to his phone did not go through.
However his aides said this was a plan by his competitors to distract his good development record in Kapomboi ward.
