Several young men took to the streets in Kitale town on Saturday evening to protest after Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa was ousted as Deputy Minority Whip in Parliament.
On Thursday, NASA endorsed the move to de-whip Wamalwa and replaced him with Ford Kenya secretary General Eseli Simiyu.
Simiyu is Tongaren MP.
The youths who were on motorbikes carried placards written “Eseli Simiyu is a sellout”.
They were led by Morgan Chesoli and Aggrey Nalianya.
Addressing the press after the demos, they said the move to oust Wamalwa was orchestrated by Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati, Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa,Eseli and Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi.
They said they will still vote for Chris Wamalwa as the Trans Nzoia Governor in 2022.
Nalianya said Chris Wamalwa has been at loggerheads with Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa.
Political pundits said Eugene Wamalwa is considering vying for the Governor’s seat or sponsoring a candidate to succeed Governor Patrick Khaemba.
Nalianya said the ousting of Chris Wamalwa was among several plots to weaken him politically.
Aggrey Chesoli said Chris Wamalwa has improved education standards in the area and represented the people well.
Both Eseli and Wamunyinyi are close allies of Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetang’ula.
