Residents of Cherangany and Trans Nzoia have a reason to smile after area MP’s bid to establish a KMTC college bore fruits.
Cherangany MP Joshua Kuttuny has been pushing for the establishment of the college since last year.
On Tuesday, his dream became a reality as he accompanied Government officials led by KMTC chairman David Muthoga to the site where the satellite college will be established.
According to the MP, his CDF has acquired the fifteen acre land and will also fund the putting up of structures at the institution.
“After the establishment of the college, the surrounding community will get employment because some of them will work at the college while others will supply their farm produce to the college”Kuttuny said.
He said, the area will be able to produce more nurses and other health personnel adding that priority will be given to local students.
Muthoga said if all resources are available, the college will commence teaching in March next year.
Cherangany residents are happy and social media was awash with comments from area residents.
Madilu system on Cherangany live updates said:”I have seen what students in far colleges go through, parents don’t have pocket money to give them so they suffer, with KMTC coming closer, someone can be a day scholar and save the cost”.
Dancan Chenei on the same platform said:”my take on the establishment of KMTC is that many of our youths will benefit from the project”.
Mwalimu Imbai on Inform Trans Nzoia said: “congratulations muhesh that is the way to go”.
This is the second KMTC in Trans Nzoia after the first one was established in Kitale town five years ago.
There have been however complaints that most of those admitted come from far and locals are rarely considered.
