Cherangany MP Joshua Kuttuny has lashed out at DP William Ruto saying he is “defending graft”.
Kuttuny took a swipe at Ruto saying that the DP is wrong to say that he is being targeted in the war against graft.
In the past few weeks, DP Ruto and his political allies are on record saying that the war on graft is targeted at certain individuals and to derail his 2022 presidential ambitions.
The DCI is investigating the loss of at least shs 27 billion meant for the construction of the Kimwarer and Arror dams in Elgeyo Marakwet.
Ruto said only shs 7 billion was lost.
Addressing thousands of mourners at St.Teresa’s village Sitatunga during the burial of Educationist Henry Odero on Saturday, Kuttuny said those involved in corruption must be punished.
He asked the deputy president to support the fight against corruption instead of complaining when the institutions mandated to fight the vice do their work.
Kuttuny also asked the DCI George Kinoti to hasten investigations against those alleged to have swindled public cash and charge them in court.
He asked Kinoti and DPP Nordin Haji to intensify the fight against corruption despite threats from a section of politicians allied to the DP.
“I support what Kinoti and Haji are doing in their efforts to fight corruption,” he said.
The lawmaker wondered why Ruto has been firm with his statement that there were “no Kenyans who have died of hunger”.
There have been reports that many Kenyans have died of starvation in Turkana and Baringo counties as a result of drought.
