Efforts by Governor Joseph Ole Lenku’s ODM political rivals to woe party MCAs ahead of 2022 flopped on Tuesday night as they told them on their face that they are fully behind the Governor.
Former Governor David Nkedienye, Kajiado Central MP Elijah Memusi and politician Tarayia Ole Kores got the shock of their lives infront of ODM National Elections Board Chairperson Catherine Mumma when the MCAs stuck to their guns that they would not back them in 2022.
Interestingly, the ODM MCAs had rushed to the meeting late in the evening after they successfully ganged up with their Jubilee colleagues to pass a crucial Bill at the County Assembly.
The Kajiado County Village Administration Bill (2021) which seeks to create Village administrators (equivalent to chiefs of the National Government) had been opposed by allies of Kajiado South Katoo Ole Metito and Kajiado East MP Peris Tobiko both of whom want to oust Governor Lenku in 2022.
The Kitengela ODM MCAs meeting was called to consolidate the party’s support and choose party officials.
The efforts by Memusi to bulldoze the MCAs to handpick ward officials was shot down unanimously.
Memusi is increasingly leaning towards the UDA party after claiming he was not comfortable going for party primaries in April next year.
