Governor Joseph Ole Lenku’s political machinery has MOVED IN to protect its stronghold of Kajiado North; this time deciding to go without area MP Joseph Manje who has DEFECTED from Jubilee to the ODM party.
The mapping out of Kajiado North which overwhelmingly voted for Lenku in 2017 will lead to a series of political meetings and rallies that will also market the Azimio La Umoja initiative by President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
The charm offensive has already started, and HOT NEWS has reliably learnt that Lenku has mandated his shrewd political aide Kibe Chege and loyal Nkaimurunya MCA James Waichanguru to take charge of the series of upcoming meetings.
Last week, Mr Kibe led Team Lenku (Kajiado North Chapter) for a series of meet the people tour of Ngong Ward and focused on the populous Gichagi area.
Apart from meeting women groups, the team joined several mourning families and boosted their burial preparation kitties.
Last Weekend, it was the turn for MCA Waichanguru to lead the political onslaught, convening a highly successful meeting of members of the Luo, Luhya, Kisii and Kamba communities from Nkaimurunya Ward.
The communities that largely support ODM and Mr Odinga for the top seat unanimously ENDORSED the Re-election of Governor Lenku in 2022.
Said Mr Waichanguru, ” We are realigning our politics along the Handshake line up. We are asking for votes from those who may not have supported us in 2017 through Jubilee. We are becoming one family with the ODM supporters.”
Governor Lenku said a decision had been made to support Mr Odinga for the Presidency.
“Raila has never failed to get votes. But what he has been lacking to win the ultimate prize, he has been given by President Kenyatta. I have no doubt a Jubilee- ODM Coalition will easily win in 2022,” the Governor said.
Women leader Myllene Bosibori lamented that the former County regime had given the ODM supporters a raw deal despite supporting the former Governor 100% in 2013.
“We feel we were misused by Nkedienye. We do not want to hear his return because we have a lot of pain over his regime,” said Bosibori.
Later, Lenku and MCA Waichanguru led their political brigade to a Thanksgiving ceremony of Eddy Kimani who was recently appointed a Chief Officer for Urban Planning and Municipalities.
The well attended ceremony became a platform to drum up support for the Governor and castigate the tenure of former Governor David Nkedienye.
