Popular Kajiado West MP Moses Ole Sakuda has returned to the political scene in Kajiado with a bang’ and declared he will be gunning for the Kajiado Senate Seat.
Mr Sakuda, who was first elected MP for the then populous Kajiado North on a TNA ticket after the death of Prof George Saitoti in 2012, will be vying on a Jubilee ticket.
The entry of Sakuda who sometimes back was bedridden after an illness, in the Senate race has thrown a spanner in the works in the race that has attracted Nominated Senator Judy Pareno, County Speaker Johnson Osoi, Ngong Municipality director Brian Sekento, former County Secretary Samuel Seki and Politician Daniel Teenai.
A strong ally of President Uhuru Kenyatta, Sakuda’s Edge in the race is that the Kajiado North he represented in 2012 and which he campaigned extensively, covered what is today’s Kajiado North,Kajiado East and Kajiado West constituencies.
“I know all these constituencies.. I campaigned in them against Saitoti in 2007 and again in 2012 and 2013. I have wide network there,” said Sakuda.
The Former MP, a gifted orator, is considered wealthy and generous, and pundits say he is capable of cobbling a political behemoth that will overshadow his opponents.
“I am Ready. Niko Tayari. I am running on Azimio.None of those in the UDA is capable of matching the machinery I have set up. It is all systems go,” said Sakuda from his home in Kimuka,Ewuaso Iinkidong Ward.
Sakuda’s other advantage is that he comes from Kajiado West where current Senator Philip Mpaayei comes from and locals will be keen to retain the Seat there.
Sakuda also enjoys massive support from his Orokiteng’ clan which is larger than their rivals, the Odomong’i clan.
“I know clan politics will still come in play but we have a mission of uniting all of them together with the non Maasai communities who are now many in Kajiado. No one will not like his clan to vote for him as charity begins at home,” said Sakuda.
He says Kajiado lacks a Senator who has “a network at the top” with the national government and that is why Mpaayei under-performed.
