Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa has asked Luhyas living in Trans Nzoia not to vie for the Trans Nzoia Governors seat.
He said any Luhya intending to vie for the seat should shelve his or her ambitions for the benefit of other communities.
“If any Luhya goes for Senate seat, they will destroy votes for me,” he said.
Wamalwa comes from the populous Bukusu subtribe of the Luhya community and wants to be Trans Nzoia Governor in 2022.
Michael Mbito, the current senator comes from the Sabaot community.
Addressing a gathering at Namanjalala during the burial of Mzee Julius Maruti, Wamalwa said the Senate seat should be reserved for other communities.
These “other” communities are considered minorities in Trans Nzoia County.
He said if they are given the Senate seat, then they will vote for him as the next Governor.
Wamalwa warned anybody who will go against him that he will “deal with them accordingly”.
“This is just but the start, I will deal with people in whichever way, be it beating or any other means to ensure that the victory is mine “he ranted.
Present were Kwanza MP Ferdinand Wanyonyi, his 2017 main rival Nicholas Wamalwa, Keiyo MCA Emmanuel Waswa and his Kapomboi counterpart Ben Mulipuko.
Others were Chris Wamalwa’s office staff members Godwin Masibo and Rodgers Barasa.
Nicholas Wamalwa faulted MP Wanyonyi for denying him a chance to speak at the funeral.
“I am Wanyonyi’s main opponent and the current leader of opposition in this area. Why has he given a chance to small staffs from the neighboring constituency but denying me the opportunity in my bedroom “complained Wamalwa.
The youthful 2022 aspirant said he is the only candidate who will send Wanyonyi home because he has the grassroot support.
“If you see someone denying you a chance then just know you are a threat to him” said Nicholas Wamalwa.
Mulipuko and Waswa also faulted Kiminini MP for undermining them and said they may not support him in future.
