Leaders supporting the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) dominated opposers during burial of Toto Rabecca Isegere,91, mother to Teso North MP Oku Kaunya in Teso North Sub County on Saturday.
Vihiga Deputy Governor Peter Saisi and MPs, Kabira Wachira (Mwea), Nimrod Mbayi (Kituyi East), Aduma Owuor (Nyakach), Wafula Wa Munyinyi (Kanduyi) and Gladwell Cheruiyot (Baringo Woman Representative) were in its favor.
Amani National Congress National Secretary General Barrack Muluka and Kimilili MP Didmus Baraza objected citing certain anomalies.
Supporters said BBI will bring peace, unity, inclusiveness, national ethos and shared prosperity, among other benefits.
They dismissed claims by opposers that the document is meant for certain individuals and was meant to create more positions in government.
Nyakach MP Aduma Owuor said Baba (Raila Odinga) cannot go wrong, noting that the way forward for Kenya is through BBI which will herald peaceful co-existence and help fight injustices and corruption.
Barack Muluka claimed that proponents want those opposed out of gravy train, adding that it wants to create more positions which will not be tenable for the country’s ailing economy.
Mbayi, although supporting the document, wants it to undergo some panel beating to make it more appealing in eyes of Kenyan electorates.
