Mwingi professionals have sent their deepest condolences to Kitui’s pioneer governor Julius Malombe and his family.
This is after the death of his wife and family matriarch, Edith Mawia Malombe.
In a message conveyed on their behalf by their coordinator Campbell Munyambu, the professionals described the late Edith as a warm mother, friendly and one who championed for the rights of the downtrodden in the society when she served as the county’s first lady.
As Mwingi professionals, we are devastated by the death of Edith Malombe, who was a strong pillar for our pioneer governor Julius Malombe and his family.
Her untimely demise is a big blow not only to the family but the entire Kitui County.
During her tenure as Kitui’s first lady, Edith played a pivotal role in the advancement of healthcare provision for the rural communities.
It is through her efforts that she started Mobile Clinics that availed health services to residents, especially mothers and children at their localities.
Through this initiative, she partnered with First Lady Margaret Kenyatta and acquired several trucks for Beyond Zero campaign in the County.
Edith also gave schoolgirls decency by donating to them sanitary towels and undergarments thus ensuring that their stay in school was comfortable and convenient.
Her demise is also a blow to the legal fraternity, for Edith was a firm lawyer and a solid Advocate of the High Court who stood for what is right.
Indeed, Edith and her touching work will be missed by all.
As professionals we shall be close to Dr Malombe and members of his family during this very difficult time.
In us, they have shoulders to lean on.
May the gracious lord grant Edith’s soul eternal peace.
Rest well mama.
