Police from Namanjala Police Post are on the spot after one of them shot dead an 18-year-old boy at a changaa den.
Both religious and Political leaders from Trans Nzoia condemned the incident that took place at Namanjalala village, Kwanza constituency.
Residents said Sebastian Wekesa Wanjala,18 was killed after police officers who were carrying out a raid on illicit liquor dens invaded their home at around 7 am on Friday.
It is said that after hearing some noise, Wekesa who was resting in his house moved out to see what was happening.
They said he was shot at thrice by officers from Namanjalala police post.
He was shot on the back and died on the spot.
“We once heard that an officer from Namanjalala police post had threatened to kill this young man. It’s shocking that it has happened, the culprits must pay for what they have done “said Boniface Mukhamba, a cousin who spoke to Hot News on phone.
Area aspiring MP Nicholas Wamalwa condemned the incident and asked IG Hillary Mutyambai to intervene.
Wamalwa asked the IG and the National Police Service Commission to ensure the officer who fired the killer shots is arrested and arraigned.
“It is a sad day, the police should have protected the lives of people and their property, but this is not the case. The IG should ensure Justice is done to the family “said Wamalwa.
Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa also condemned the incident saying investigations should commence immediately but the culprits must be arrested first.
Area police commander Fredrick Onyango said investigations have already started and that those involved will be disciplined accordingly.
Social media was awash with bloody and gory images of Wekesa’s lifeless body.
Changaaa and Busaa are brewed by many poor households around the Country.
Several people including Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa were educated by their parents out of proceeds from the illicit liquor.
If brewed well and in clean conditions – changaaa and Busaa are affordable liquor that are enjoyed by many people.
