Police in Njoro area of Nakuru County are searching for the killers of those who killed a 4-year-old kid.
The nursery school kid hailed from Kiwanja Ndege village.
According to neighbors, the child went missing on Thursday last week.
The neighbors said she went missing after a friend called her to go out so that they play together.
They said her mother was not at home and that the door to their house was closed.
She had left school at 3 pm.
The child was a pupil at Junior Friends ECDE in Njoro.
Neighbors said she was found dead at a nearby field.
The post mortem report indicated she had been defiled and strangled to death.
Local police said the man suspected to have committed the heinous act has gone missing and his phone is being traced to Western Kenya.
Neighbor Ivy Cheptanui said she was saddened by the beastly act.
The child was under a Compassion programme at International Kenya where she used to attend sessions every Saturday.
AIC Njoro Child Development Center manager Sammy Githu said Brenda was a friendly and jovial child and easy to interact with.
“This is a sad incident that has left many in shock. The Department of Criminal Investigations is probing the matter and we expect the culprit to be arrested and arraigned in court,” Githu said.
According to the residents, the suspects wife has gone into hiding for fear of being lynched.
The Child will be buried this week.
