Former Kajiado Governor David Nkedienye and Kajiado Central MP Memusi Kanchory DEFIANTLY boycotted a top ODM organ meeting chaired by party leader Raila Odinga.
The two leaders refused to attend the National Governing Convention (NGC) meeting at the Bomas of Kenya where the party was setting the road map for the nomination of its candidates and its coalition with the Jubilee Party tomorrow.
The boycott by Nkedienye and Memusi is now the strongest indicator that they have fallen out with Mr Odinga over his deal with Jubilee that would see ODM not field candidates in some positions in favor of Jubilee which will also forfeit some positions in favor of ODM.
Nkedienye and Memusi have severally given an ultimatum to ODM that they should not be subjected to any nomination exercise and that they should be given DIRECT TICKETS just like in 2017.
On the other hand, Mr Odinga has been categorical that his deal with Jubilee would mean sitting down with aspirants and agreeing on “a give and take” scenario where those who miss out on party tickets would be offered other positions in the National Government.
However, Nkedienye has particularly been categorical that he will be on the ballot “EVEN IF IT MEANS AS AN INDEPENDENT”.
It is perhaps the divergence in opinion on the party ticket that has angered the former Nkedienye who is keen to recapture the seat he lost to Joseph Ole Lenku in 2017.
Sources within Nkedienye’s camp claim he is privy to a deal by Odinga and Uhuru to offer the Narok County Azimio gubernatorial ticket to Narok North MP Moitalel Ole Kenta of ODM and the Kajiado Azimio gubernatorial ticket to Governor Lenku of Jubilee.
Former Olkejuado County Council Chairman,Tarayia Kores, however, attended the NGC meeting.
He is also gunning for the Azimio ticket but supports consensus rather than party primaries.
Nominated Senator Judy Pareno also attended the Raila meeting.
