A section of Sabaot elders from Trans Nzoia and Bungoma Counties on Monday accused COTU boss Francis Atwoli and former Jubilee vice chair David Murathe for engineering divisions in Jubilee party and the Country.
The elders who were led by Stephen Musani,Charles Samoei and Ropha Siyoi asked the two to keep off Deputy President William Ruto.
DP Ruto has fallen out with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The elders asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to ignore the two and continue to work with his deputy.
“We should be told who is this Atwoli in our government. Is he the statehouse advisor, and if that is the case, are we short of advisors in this country? “posed Samoei.
They faulted Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa and Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya over a recent meeting with a section of Sabaot elders saying it was not consultative.
The elders said those who attended a meeting at the CS’s Milimani home were not genuine elders from the community.
They said such a meeting was meant to divide the community.
“We are asking the Devolution CS to stick to his roles as a CS and engage in politics in 2022″Samoei added.
Those who attended the Milimani meeting on Thursday were led by Mzee Gideon Mbito, Senator Michael Mbito and former Kitale Deputy Mayor Pius Kauka.
They agreed to work together with other communities in Western Kenya and support the Government.
Siyoi said they still believe Uhuru and Ruto are together.
He said they can only talk to Ruto if he complained publicly about Uhuru.
Musani said there should be no MOU between the Sabaot community and other communities until the elders end Internal wrangles in their Council.
The elders spoke to the media in Kitale on Monday.
The relationship between the President and Ruto has been frosty and has seen DPs close allies lose lucrative positions at both the Senate and the National assembly.
Wamalwa and Oparanya were identified in a meeting that was held at Atwoli’s home in Kajiado to be Western Kenya spokesmen.
They were tasked with uniting all communities in Western Kenya.
