It is a major setback for embattled Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula after Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamumyinyi was invited to address participants at the Bomas of Kenya during the BBI launch.
Wamunyinnyi was invited alongside, Moses Wetangula , Maendeleo Chap Chap leader Alfred Mutua, ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi , Issac Rutto of Chama Cha Mashinani, and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
The crowd went into a frenzy when Wamunyinyi was called out.
“We are happy with the BBI because it cures the question of disputes within political parties. For us, the dispute is in the High Court. The BBI proposes internal mechanisms and that’s good for us.” Wamunyinyi said as Wetangula looked on pensively.
It is not clear why the organizers who are proponents of the BBI and State functionaries decided to invite the two warring Ford Kenya leaders.
However, political pundits see it as a setback to Wetangula whose political influence is waning, and his powers dwindled after he was ousted as Senate Minority leader.
In the early 1990’s when Wamunyinyi was in Ford Kenya and being groomed by the late Ford Kenya leader Michael Kijana Wamalwa, Wetangula was in KANU.
He was latter rewarded by President Moi with a nomination to Parliament as a nominated MP.
Wetangula has occasionally branded Wamunyinyi as a political novice.
