A long serving Kitale based paediatrician has died.
He was receiving treatment at St Lukes Orthopaedic and Trauma Hospital in Eldoret.
The doctor has been mourned by both leaders and ordinary people.
Some described him as a pillar in enhancing health care in the region.
Among those who have condoled with the family are Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa, his Cherangany counterpart Joshua Kuttuny, DP Ruto’s aide Kakai Bisau, among others.
In his condolence message, Wamalwa described Dr Usagi as a close friend who contributed a lot towards his political career.
“The pediatrician has been a great friend who has supported me politically and has been in the forefront in enhancing health and education,”
“His passing on is not only a big loss to Trans Nzoia but to the entire nation” Wamalwa said.
Cherangany MP Joshua Kuttuny who is also the National Assembly Health committee vice chair said he received the news of the demise of Dr Usagi with a heavy heart.
“I knew him as a committed medical doctor whose services will be missed. May his family get solace in the Lord and comfort “said Kuttuny.
Meanwhile, all social media platforms in Trans Nzoia were awash with messages of condolences to the family describing Usagi as a humble medical doctor who has treated hundreds of people, especially children.
Sitatunga MCA Daniel Kaburu said he knew Usagi as a mentor to several Medical practitioners.
“His indomitable virtues in the medical field were always apt,” said Kaburu.
Trans Nzoia residents prayed for the family to stay strong as they mourn their loved one.
Dr Usagi was the founder and owner of Crystal Cottage Hospital in Milimani.
He also ran as a paediatric consultancy center in Kitale Town.
