Saboti MP Caleb Amisi on Friday donated foodstuff and masks to the Trans Nzoia Covid -19 response team.
Speaking during the issuance of the commodities to the committee chaired by County commissioner Sam Ojwang,Amisi said he felt the need to help his constituents due to hard economic times.
The goods were worth sh14 million.
“This is my personal donation and not the government’s. My local and International friends have supported me,” he said.
The foodstuffs included maize, beans, rice, wheat flour and cooking oil.
Amisi added that he has sent a total of shs 7 million through MPESA to his constituents.
He called on the Committee to ensure the food reaches all the constituents.
Commissioner Ojwang thanked the MP for the contribution and urged more well-wishers to help.
Ojwang added that he will supply 10,000 masks issued by the government to the boda boda community.
He urged the residents to support the government’s directive of observing social distance, washing hands frequently and wearing masks.
