Tension ran higher at Matisi township in Saboti constituency after a group of youth held area MP hostage as they destroyed his official car.
The incident happened on Friday after the MP had completed issuance of bursary forms to local students in the area.
The youths complained that the MP has failed to fulfill a pledge of sh 1.5 Million he made to them to start businesses.
The irate youths alleged that Amisi has failed to keep the promises and that he has left Matisi undeveloped.
Unconfirmed reports say during the commotion, the MP pleaded with the youths to spare him and to stop destroying his car because he bought it through a loan that he is servicing.
The incident forced the police to intervene and arrest several youths before the MP got a chance to escape.
On Saturday, Hot News learnt that most of the arrested youths had been released and only one was still being held at the Kitale police station.
Philemon Buzeki, the area resident condemned the arrest saying the MP should have amicably solved the matter.
“The MP should have kept his pledge of sh 1.5 million promised to the youth instead of this harassment” Buzeki said after the youths were released on Saturday.
Hot News contacted Amisi to comment on the matter but his phone was engaged as there were reports that he was busy issuing out bursary forms in the neighboring Tuwan ward.
In Tuwan,Amisi was guarded with additional security officers to ensure what happened in Matisi does not recur.
Amisi’s predicament come alongside a recent political attack from immediate former Saboti constituency Manager Luke Naibei who alleged the MP is corrupt.
Naibei on Friday asked the MP to stop maligning his name and stop corruption deals.
Naibei claimed only sh 10 million is used for bursaries out of a sum of sh 30 million which is allocated by the Government.
“The government also allocated some sh 4.6 million to service the stalled constituency car, but nothing has changed “added Naibei.
Naibei asked the MP to prepare for a tough race in 2022.
He said he will defeat him.
