St. Peters Mumias Principal Cosmas Nabungolo has declared interest to succeed Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa in 2022.
Wamalwa will not defend his seat and instead he has announced he will “use all means” to be the next Trans Nzoia Governor.
Speaking in his Bukusu dialect during the burial of Mama Florence Khaemba, wife to University lecturer Battany Khaemba on Wednesday, Nabungolo asked Kiminini residents to accept the “desire” of his heart to enable him to represent them in parliament.
“Mwirebanga bhuli nyanga mbo Mwalimu atangasianga busa malasaema ta,enyanga yakhola-(you have been asking yourself that I have expressed interest but I don’t vie. This is the time. I need your support in 2022,” said Nabungolo.
The Principal asked the community to embrace education.
He said education is among his key agendas.
Nabungolo’s entry in the race has increased the number of Kiminini aspirants to six.
Others in the race are Wamalwa’s 2017 main Challenger Julius Mbagaya, Educationist Masibo Lumala, Godwin Masibo, Martin Walubuka, Robert Wamalwa and Martin Nang’ole.
Nabungolo has both local and international networks.
He is a former Principal of St Anthony High school in Kitale.
Most of his former students work in the USA, United Kingdom, and other parts of the world.
