Saboti MP Caleb Amisi’s supporters have asked Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa to respect his colleague.
The supporters took to social media platforms to criticize the Kiminini MP for turning a burial ceremony of one of his constituents into a political rally.
They asked him to respect the dead and their kins.
During the funeral of one Shadrack Kagumo at Kibomet in Kiminini on Saturday, Wamalwa introduced Joseph Pepela as “Saboti MP.”
The idea was not well received by the ODM party and Caleb Amisi’s supporters
Caleb Amisi is the current MP for Saboti and was elected on an ODM ticket.
Pepela came fourth in 2017 elections after Amisi ,Jonus Kuko and Nangulu Sakari.
Timothy Kiprop on Kiminini Sub County said, “How dare can he introduce a political failure like Pepela as the MP for Saboti?”
“Kagumo’s burial was not a platform for people to showcase their ignorance; thank God you did that nonsense in your constituency. If it was in Saboti , then political temperatures would have risen” he said.
Kiprop wants the Kiminini MP to apologize to the people of Saboti over his statement.
On Wednesday, Trans Nzoia ODM secretary John Simiyu posted on Chris Wamalwa for Governor WhatsApp Group forum that the party is not taking the statement lightly.
Simiyu said the MP has been undermining his colleague for long and that it is high time Amisi is accorded respect.
After unsuccessfully vying for Saboti seat, Pepela joined team Chris Wamalwa for Governor 2022.
“We are watching you Hon.Chris with your Team. Hon Chris, you should tame your barking dogs or else you lose respect from your colleagues and friends within and outside parliament. Respect is paramount if you want to be respected too “said John Simiyu.
“We are now beginning to think otherwise on your current and future political abilities”. He added.
Simiyu told off Pepela telling him that making it to Parliament in 2022 will be a tall order.
“For Chris, you were elected in Kiminini and the Governor’s seat is not vacant, fanyia kiminini kazi kwanza. ODM is closely watching you as you are serving as minority whip courtesy of the party, if you are contesting this fact just resign in solidarity with your Ford Kenya boss,” Simiyu ranted.
Sam Masika, who stood as running mate to governor candidate Joseph Mburu however supported Wamalwa’s statement saying that was just a political language.
He dismissed Simiyu and Kiprop’s attacks on Wamalwa.
“You people should understand politics, it seems you are new in this field, how many people call me Deputy Governor and yet I am not, that is just a political statement and you should get accustomed to it” Masika said.
During a funds drive at Mitume Catholic church in December, Amisi told Wamalwa to respect him and always inform him while touring his constituency.
