A team Tangatanga function was marred with heckling and was nearly disrupted for the second time in Cherangany constituency, Trans Nzoia County.
Youth allied to MP Joshua Kuttuny and Kieleweke team shouted at Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu, Endebess MP Robert Pukose and Nakuru MP Ngunjiri Kimani as they made their speeches on Sunday.
The noise and disruption from the youth halted the function for more than fifteen minutes before police from Kapolet and Kachibora police posts were called to intervene and calm the situation.
“Hapa ni Kitaeleweka na Mbunge ni Kuttuny”-(We recognize the Kieleweke team and Kuttuny as our MP) the hecklers shouted.
The incident took place at Makutano during a funds drive for fifteen churches which was supposed to be presided over by the Deputy President William Ruto, who was said to be engaged elsewhere and sent Governor Waititu as his representative.
Others who attended the function were Trans Nzoia women representative Janet Nangabo,Jubilee politicians Kakai Bisau, Bethwel Kirior and former Agriculture Minister Kipruto Kirwa.
The speakers at the function however blamed the area MP Joshua Kuttuny saying he was behind the heckling.
When we contacted Kuttuny for a comment, he distanced himself from the mess but said the residents are tired with Tangatanga agenda.
“The president wanted all jubilee leaders to help him in implementing his agendas but the Tangatanga team led by the Deputy President have defied the directive and are now campaigning for 2022, I think the residents are tired” said Kuttuny.
A month ago, a group of youth heckled the same team at Tuigoin in the same constituency after speakers tried to endorse Kirwa for 2022 Cherangany MP’s seat.
The Deputy President has skipped his planned functions in Cherangany for the second.
Speakers in both functions have been heckled.
Addressing the residents, Waititu said it is Kuttuny who had sent the youth to disrupt their meeting.
He told residents to support Ruto for president in 2022 adding that he is focused and will enhance development if elected.
Pukose said he is optimistic Ruto will succeed president Uhuru in 2022.
The Kieleweke team has asked the president to stop Ruto and his Tangatanga team from campaigns or else he relinquishes his position to enable him continue with his countrywide campaigns.
