The County Government of Trans Nzoia has set aside two isolation centers for Coronavirus Patients.
Addressing the press after unveiling county Corona virus response team, Governor Patrick Khaemba said any person who may show symptoms of the virus will be isolated at Kitale District Hospital and Kaisagat isolation canters.
He directed all weddings be suspended and only family members should attend funerals.
“I know it will be difficult since we are used to attending funerals, I urge friends and relatives of the bereaved families to do written messages to the families instead of physically availing themselves” Khaemba said.
Members of the public have been advised to call the two hotline numbers of 0759454347 or 0734396344 in case there is any person showing symptoms.
He said there is a standby ambulance to transport them to the isolation centers.
The Governor ordered all ECDs managed by the County to close.
Khaemba asked all PSV operators to issue sanitizers to passengers.
He ordered the department of health to sidestep all procurement procedures and purchase sh 10 million medical supplies so that they are delivered next week, Friday.
“Although the department should not follow the procurement procedures, the purchase of the supplies must be transparent, and the supplies must be delivered by Friday” he said.
The rapid response team comprises of all Khaemba cabinet members, the office of the County Commissioner and the Trans Nzoia security team.
The County boss took the chance to warn all misleading social media bloggers who spread fake news over the virus that he will firmly deal with them.
“You just continue insulting Khaemba, but if you go on misleading members of the public over Corona, then I will come for you” he warned.
The Governor was reacting to misleading social media reports that the first Corona patient who was reported in the country had travelled to Kitale before being diagnosed with the virus.
“I want to clearly say that we have not reported any cases of the virus in Trans Nzoia,” he said.
