Immediate former Rift Valley Regional Commissioner George Natembeya’s campaign for the Trans Nzoia Gubernatorial seat has received a major boost.
This is after all the 5 elected MPs, former MPs and the 25 elected MCAs and former ones said they will support him.
Speaking at a Nairobi Hotel where he held a meeting with the 25 ward reps, Natembeya said he is committed to working with all the MCAs and MPs from the County.
Since resigning from office and plunging into the murky waters of politics, Natembeya has been endorsed by several elders from the County.
First to endorse him were the Bukusu and Tachoni Council of Elders, the Sabaots, Kisiis, the Kikuyus, Turkanas , Kalenjins and others have scheduled events to endorse him before May.
“Trans Nzoia is a cosmopolitan County. I look forward to serving all the residents with fairness and they will all get services at the County. Our County is rich in diversity and this is our strength,” he said.
The business community and notable personalities from the County including former Minister Noah Wekesa, former MP Davis Nakitare, David Wafula, former Vice President Michael Kijana Wamalwa family, the Gumo and the Kittony family are also backing Natembeya.
Other prominent personalities in government who have their rural homes in Trans Nzoia have also promised finance Natembeya’s campaigns.
Several opinion polls have also placed him ahead of the other candidates.
Currently, 70 percent of the residents have vowed to vote for him
The rest of the candidates including Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa share the remaining 30 percent.
Trans Nzoia County has a total of 5 constituencies.
They are Kwanza with 4 wards, Endebess with 3 wards, Saboti 5 wards, Kiminini 6 wards and Cherangany 7 wards.
The total number of wards is 25.
