Nurses and county government workers in Trans Nzoia will down their tools on Monday if their salaries will not reflect in their bank accounts the same day.
Addressing the press in Kitale on Thursday, county government workers union chairman Juma Kiboi and his Nurses union secretary counterpart Willy sifuna said the county is yet to pay March salaries.
Kiboi said the workers are unable to foot their bills due to the hard-economic times.
Kiboi wondered why the county government did not notify workers earlier of the delayed payment.
Sifuna faulted the department of health for failing to buy personal protective equipment.
“Our nurses have no protective gears, yet they are in the forefront in helping on attending to patients including those who might be infected with Covid-19″said Sifuna.
He added the department had allocated funds for allowances and training of nurses on Covid -19 but none of them has received the money.
Instead of Training, Sifuna said the department of health has been organizing sensitization programs.
He called on his members to boycott work if the government will not avail the protective equipment.
County Health Executive Member Clare Namenge has however insisted that the nurse’s welfare is among the priorities and that the county has trained 200 health workers on preventing the spread of the Corona virus.
