Trans Nzoia 2022 Senatorial aspirant Allan Chesang on Sunday boosted his bid after donating masks to the residents to help in preventing the spread of Covid -19.
Chesang is said to be planning major events in Trans Nzoia when the pandemic ends.
“I have good plans for our people, I can’t wait to be elected before assisting them.” he said.
He donated 14,000 pieces of face masks and pledged 500,000 pieces soon.
The politician cum businessman said many residents need food.
“Apart from what I have delivered today, together with my friends, I will mobilize for funds to ensure I also deliver food.” he said.
He urged well-wishers to come up with similar programmes and help the residents.
Chesang is expected to battle it out with incumbent Michael Mbito, former Senator Henry Ndiema and former aspirant Beatrice Kitiabi.
Others who have shown interest in the 2022 Senatorial race are contractor Nick Mutuku, Engineer Richard Chesebe, former Trans Nzoia county Assembly speaker David sifuna,Peter Chemuigut,Alex Matere and a new political entrant Samson Some.
Sources said current Trans Nzoia county Assembly speaker Joshua Werunga is also mulling over vying for the seat.
Werunga,Chesang, Nicholas Wamalwa,Nick Biketi competed in 2017 for Kwanza parliamentary seat.
73-year-old Ferdinand Wanyonyi of Ford Kenya won.
Some is knowledgeable in conventional medicine.
He has been advocating for the legalizing of bhang saying it has medical value.
He also says he is guided by God.
