Residents of Trans Nzoia County have called on Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa to vie for the Governor’s seat.
The seat will fall vacant when the constitutional term of Governor Patrick Khaemba comes to an end in 2022.
The constitution stipulates that a Governor can only serve a maximum of 2 terms (10 years).
On Friday, more than 200 bodaboda officials who represented 67,000 members from the county said the CS is capable of transforming the county if given an opportunity.
The operators told Wamalwa at Kitales Bodaboda training school that he should consider vying for the seat.
Wamalwa gave the operators shs 650, 0000 to help them comply with the new driving school regulations.
“This time round there should be no turning back, you are going to be our Governor in 2022 by force, this is because we need you ” resident Anthony Ombima told Wamalwa.
Addressing the gathering, Wamalwa said he will do what the residents want him to do.
“I have heard what you people have said; we will have more consultations after the BBI proposals are out. I will go by what you have said “Wamalwa told the operators.
If Wamalwa joins the race, then he will face Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa who has already declared himself “the incoming Governor”.
Others who are eyeing the seat are DP’s aide Kakai Bisau, Abraham Sing’oei, businessman Moses Khaoya, Andrew Wanyonyi and Trans Nzoia women rep Janet Nangabo.
