Two bodies have been retrieved from Namwechula river in Tulwet area of Kiminini constituency.
According to area aspiring MP Peter Kusimba,a man in mid-thirties drowned in the river a week ago.
While retrieving the body, divers came across another one of a lady.
It was decomposing.
Kusimba said the two might have drowned following lack of a bridge across Namwachula river.
The existing bridge was demolished by a contractor eight months ago.
He said he is putting up a new bridge but he hasn’t started the job.
Kusimba blamed the government for laxity and being reluctant to put up a new bridge.
He said Tulwet area has been turned into a “land locked area”.
“The bridge is very important since it serves the bypass between Kiungani on Kitale Webuye road and Maili Saba on Kitale-Eldoret Highway “said Kusimba.
The road belongs to KeRRA.
We contacted, area MP Chris Wamalwa could not be reached for comment.
Residents pleaded with the government to hasten construction of the bridge so that they can transport their products to the market.
The two bodies were transported to Kitale hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
