President Uhuru Kenyatta has expressed dismay that rebel MCAs at the Kajiado County Assembly belong to Jubilee Party.
The President was shocked that the MCAs opposed to Governor Joseph Ole Lenku were nominated and elected on the Jubilee party.
President Kenyatta on Thursday told Governor Lenku to hand him a comprehensive report on Tuesday next week when he visits the County.
The president will be in Kajiado to open the 2nd ASALs committee at Amboseli National Park.
He was shocked that some of the rebel MCAs are from his own community which he rallied to vote for Governor Lenku.
In a morning briefing before the two joined Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho for the Mombasa ASK show, Uhuru and Lenku discussed among other things, the Kajiado County Assembly.
In the private meeting, Governor Lenku briefed the President on the ASALs preparations and welcomed the President to Kilima Safari Camp (Mada Hotels) on September 10.
But on the matter of the county Assembly wars, the President was hard pressed to understand that the noise was coming from Jubilee MCAs- some of them nominated by the party.
“Your view on the county is the official Jubilee view. We trust it is the view for the good of all communities living there. I can’t understand how any Jubilee MCA can go against your view on a county matter,” the President told the Governor.
Comptroller of State House Kinuthia Mbugua was tasked to liaise with Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju and the Governor to give the President a full report on Tuesday on the MCAs rebellion to the party.
A senior State House official confided Uhuru was initially excited that the Governor had managed to bring 90 per cent of NASA MCAs to his side to keep the County in peace.
“That is the spirit bwana Governor. Asante sana. Lazima tuunganishe watu wote kama vile mimi ninafanya na wale wa Opposition..Lakini hawa wetu wanaleta kelele, nataka mambo yao kuyajua Juma nne. It cannot happen.Tuanze na hao nominated,” said the State House source.
Stat House Spokesperson Kanze Dena confirmed the President was surprised that opposition MCAs were supporting the Governor while some Jubilee ones were deviant.
“Yes, the President couldn’t understand how Jubilee MCAs can be beaten by Opposition ones in supporting Kajiado County Government. The County is the best example of how political parties can work in a highly cosmopolitan environment,” said Ms Dena.
It is at this early meeting that Uhuru told Lenku that he had ” something for him” only for the President to surprise him by buying him a special gift of a Sh 400,000 bull.
