Political leaders from Western Kenya have vowed to support the yet to be released BBI report.
Led by Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa and Busia Governor Sospetr Ojjamong, the leaders said they will also ensure the Sugar and maize task force reports are implemented.
Speaking at Aboloi Salvation Army Church in Teso North, Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa said Ojaamong has agreed to host the second regional meeting where the three task force reports will be discussed.
The two presided over a funds drive in aid of construction of Captain Charles Ligare official residence.
Sh500,000 was raised.
The CS said the Busia meeting will attract five Governors, Senator and over 40 MPs from Busia, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma and Trans Nzoia Counties.
“The task force on sugar and maize formed by the President during our meeting on Mashujaa Day in Kakamega has already completed the reports which are now headed to the Cabinet; the two reports and BBI will form the basis of our meeting in Busia,” Wamalwa said.
The CS hit out at those opposing BBI wondering how one can oppose what has not been proposed.
He urged area residents to support the Building Bridges Initiative.
“The BBI report is aimed at protecting small communities against false notion that they cannot rise to the presidency. ,” he said, noting that BBI will also solve post-election violence where people fear communities in “power”. Wamalwa said.
Ojaamong said his political career is not over yet, telling his opponents that there are many opportunities which may require him to serve the Country.
The CS, Governor and Teso North MP Oku Kaunya urged Kocholia residents to accept the Sh5billion Multi-purpose Dam project which will yield many benefits once complete.
