A Ford Kenya diehard supporter from Kitale who died two weeks ago will be buried by only fifteen people this Thursday.
Peter Munyasia Fweke aka Ford Kenya was a darling of politicians in Trans Nzoia.
Munyasia who used to sell groundnuts especially during public functions and political rallies since 2002 died of kidney failure.
After tracing his family and relatives, it was established that the deceased mother remarried after she separated with Munyasia’s Father.
The mother remarried when Munyasia was about 10 years old.
The mother died in 2016.
According to Aggrey Nalianya, a youthful Ford Kenya leader in Trans Nzoia, Munyasia’s stepbrothers resisted any plans to have him buried in their piece of land.
But his stepfather had accepted.
This forced Party members and friends to fundraise and buy a plot to bury him.
Ford Kenya Party leader Moses Wetang’ula led the Harambee in Kitale in his absentia whereby more than sh 300,000 was raised with Wetang’ula donating sh.100,000.
“We are happy we have finally acquired a plot at Manor House area of Saboti constituency. It already has a house and we have renovated it; this is where Munyasia will be buried. We are happy that his wife and children will have a place to call home for the rest of their lives,” said Nalianya.
It is ironical however that Munyasia, who was a man of hundreds of people will only be buried by fifteen family members.
This is according to the new directive by the government in its bid to contain the Covid-19.
“We have received information that the burial certificate will only allow fifteen people, it is painful but we have to follow the directive, even party leader Moses Wetang’ula and Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa who were to attend will be missing “said Brian Eyase, Ford Kenya National youth leader candidate.
Munyasia leaves behind a widow and several children.
