Moses Wetangula’s Ford Kenya Party is in shambles.
The Party’s bedrock and Trans Nzoia County officials are at loggerheads.
The differences among party members came out on Friday as a section of them heckled acting County chairman Ferdinand Wanyonyi.
Wanyonyi was unveiling a list of names of Party officials seeking to fill various positions.
Two weeks ago, during a meeting with Wetang’ula in Kanduyi, Wetang’ula persuaded the two groups to opt for a consensus as opposed to secret ballot.
One of the factions supports Kwanza MP Ferdinand Wanyonyi while another one wants former Saboti parliamentary seat aspirant Nangulu Sakari to take over as the County Chairman.
During the Kanduyi meeting, it is reported that Wanyonyi proposed himself as the County Chairman, Nangulu Sakari as his vice, Patrick simiyu as the secretary General , Margaret Wanjala treasurer, Robert Simiyu Assistant treasurer, Andrew Wafula Organising secretary , Rodgers Nyongesa youth leader and Francisca Ligare as women leader.
On Friday during a Ford Kenya meeting in Kitale which was meant to approve the list, Wanyonyi unveiled a different list.
The list had him as the chairman while omitting Nangulu’s name as his vice chair and instead inserting Deputy governor Stanley Tarus and Robert Simiyu as his deputies.
The list also had Andrew Wafula shuffled from being organizing secretary and indicated that he was an executive officer.
In the new list, Nangulu was listed as treasurer and his position of vice Chair allocated to his rival Joseph Pepela who wants to be Saboti MP
Kwanza Ford Kenya Chairman Peter Puka, nominated MCA Margaret Wanjala and Peter Nyongesa blamed Wanyonyi and Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa for having changed the list.
“This list has been created by Wanyonyi and Chris and we can’t allow this “an angry Puka said.
Wanyonyi however said that it is normal for individuals to react that way.
“Negative reactions are normal in politics, even after I was elected MP, my competitors were not happy, that’s normal ” he said.
On Saturday, party member Milton Waswa on Inform Trans Nzoia Whats App group faulted Wanyonyi saying the meeting was not meant to approve new leaders.
“After meeting Wetang’ula in Kanduyi, he instructed Ferdinand Wanyonyi and Secretary General Patrick simiyu to arrange a meeting with all the five sub county leaders to discuss how to share party slots in the County, instead Ferdinand Wanyonyi called leaders and unveiled the list” said Waswa on Inform Trans Nzoia.
Nangulu told Hot News “we have organized elections on 29th of this month and those masquerading as leaders should be ignored because they are fools. Wanyonyi’s list should be disregarded,”
