A 62-year-old retired Civil servant Maurice Otieno is one of the people shortlisted to replace Peter Biwott as the CEO at KEPROBA.
Biwott’s term comes to an end on 4th April.
Otieno’s name is among three names sent to Trade PS Johnson Weru for appointment.
Insiders told Hot News that Otieno retired from EPC thus he is not fit for the Job because civil servants must retire at the age of 60.
Exhibitors also complained that while he was the General Manager at EPC, he mismanaged the Export Agenda and during EXPO’s, he favored certain exporters in return for sexual favors and kickbacks.
Insiders alleged he caused untold suffering to SME’s in Milan Italy, even resulting in the death of one elderly SME whom together with his team, they mistreated her during the EXPO.
They said the woman was given a stand in the cold outside the main stand and she succumbed to pneumonia.
When reached for comment, Otieno didn’t respond to phone calls nor text messages sent to his 2 phone numbers.
Insiders also claimed that the KEPROBA Board HR committee colluded with Maurice Otieno thus shortlisting him.
But KEPROBA Board Chairman Jas Bedi said the “information is incorrect”.
“Shortlisting is now under integrity review before board submission” Bedi told Hot News.
Insiders also complained that one Christine Mwaka, Director Corporate Services , colluded with CEO Peter Biwott and tried to embezzle shs 7 million from the China EXPO funds.
Its alleged Mwaka was forced to write a letter to the former PS Chris Kiptoo detailing that they had closed an account in China together with Biwott which had the funds because they had never declared earlier.
Mwaka did not respond to text and calls when reached for comment.
In September last year, the EACC launched investigations into allegations that Biwott has abused office and hired staff from the Kalenjin Community to fill senior and lucrative positions.
