Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has dismissed a BBI faction in Kajiado County that is being led by several ODM MPs.
Odinga has allegedly rubbished Kajiado Central MP Elijah Memusi ODM) and Kajiado East MP Peris Tobiko (Jubilee) for boycotting county meetings to plan for the BBI popularization.
In a rare and unexpected meeting today between him and Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole Lenku in his private office, Odinga endorsed the Governor as the leading light in the BBI campaigns as directed by President Uhuru Kenyatta recently.
The Governor met Mr Odinga together with several MCAs and nominated Senator Judith Pareno who also hails from Kajiado.
On Friday, Memusi and Tobiko led a cross section of last election losers to a Press conference in Nairobi where they defied President Kenyatta’s choice of Mr Lenku and purported to install Mr Memusi as the BBI coordinator.
The new development throws former Governor David Ole Nkedienye under the bus on the BBI matter and perhaps in the 2022 race for Governorship.
It also undermines the political prospects of Dr Nkedianye’s allies like former Olkejuado County council chairman Tarayia Ole Kores, former senator Peter Mositet, Ex-NTSA boss Francis Meja and Ms Tobiko who have pricked State House by opposing President Kenyatta’s BBI plans in Kajiado County.
Immediately after the 2017 elections, Governor Nkedienye dumped Mr Odinga for Mr Kenyatta in the repeat election of October 26, 2017.
The party officials led by Norman Magaya had accused him of not supporting Odinga with resources.
They called his defection to Jubilee as “good riddance.”
