Four Cabinet Secretaries have denied claims that they met to plot the assassination of DP William Ruto.
Speaking on behalf of his colleagues at the DCI headquarters on Kiambu road, Industrialization CS Peter Munya said DP William Ruto’s claims are “irresponsible”.
“These are very serious allegations! Somebody in that office needs to do proper investigations; there are machineries to do proper investigations before making unsubstantiated and wild allegations of that nature. I think it is irresponsible, unfair and it’s intended to portray us in a very bad light. So that we look like we are criminals who meet to plot criminal activities against him. It is also intended to injure our reputation as law abiding citizens in this country,” Munya said.
He said that the DCI officers told them that the DP William Ruto made a call and complained that some CS’s , PS’s, MP’s and senior government officials opposed to Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid met on 14th May at LA Mada Hotel and planned to block Ruto from visiting Central Kenya.
Munya said that they have the freedom of association and their meetings arose from complaints by Mt Kenya MPs that the government had neglected the region.
He said the DCI is yet to confirm that a letter allegedly sent to the President over the matter is genuine or not.
“So we told them, if they authenticate the letter, and they find it is genuine and therefore it requires our response, we are ready to do so at any time,” he said.
He regretted that DP William Ruto has not recorded any statement since it’s a requirement in law.
