Uncouth staff from the County Government of Busia who are fond of awarding themselves, their relatives and cronies tenders are set to reap big.
This is after the County Government of Busia advertised tenders for various projects.
The County wants to drill bore holes, start new water treatment plants, build markets and ECDE classes.
Addressing mourners during the burial of Mzee Festo Omoding,96, in Amukura on Saturday, Deputy Governor Moses Mulomi said the County is ready to award the tenders.
He said rehabilitation of roads is also on-going following the dry spell after long rains that lasted several months.
Mulomi told contractors who will win bids to live up to their expectations, do quality work and deliver within prescribed time.
The announcement comes a week after the County Government said several staff in the Finance and Health departments are facing disciplinary actions.
Finance Executive Phaustine Barasa said while presenting the County fiscal strategy paper.
She said indiscipline will not be tolerated in her department.
Although failing to disclose the total number of staff facing disciplinary measures, she vowed to put in place measures to curb on revenue leakages.
” Under invoicing and under banking has been the reason a number of staff have been surcharged or told to step aside,” she said.
She told members of the public to be on look out and share any information on any cases of financial impropriety by her revenue officers to enable them take appropriate action.
A stakeholder Agola Jack lauded the County Executive wing for well updated financial information on website and challenged the County Assembly to follow suit.
Chief Officer for health and sanitation Dr Isaac Omeri said there are 60 disciplinary cases in his department out of a total workforce of 1258.
” Those who have received verbal warning or show cause letters either report on duty late or are under the influence of alcohol,” he said.
