Running battles between the police and bike operators were witnessed on Tuesday afternoon in Nairobi CBD.
The situation is expected to be replicated across the Country.
This is when the police started enforcing President Uluru’s order to clamp down on Boda Boda operators after a woman who was involved in an accident along Wangari Maathai road was sexually assaulted by some operators.
In the video that has gone viral, some men are seen groping the helpless woman.
A platoon of heavily armed GSU officers, another one from the elite AP squad of Rapid Deployment Unit, County Council Askaris, uniformed regular police and others in civilian assembled at a field opposite the Laico Regency Hotel for a briefing.
The briefing was done by Nairobi police commander Augustine Ntumbi.
On Wednesday morning, start 6 am, the police were ordered to impound any motorbike they come across.
They were told that they have to cover the entire Nairobi and be ruthless to the operators.
The heavily armed RDU were led by Alex Biwot and the GSU platoon led by C.B Kipkorir.
All major Highways will be manned.
On Tuesday, even those who operate Bolt and those delivering parcels had their bikes impounded.
Police and County Askaris in civilian carried clubs and any rider they came across was roughed up and the bike impounded.
The exercise will be replicated countrywide where there will be hue and cry among the Boda Boda operators, motorbike owners and stakeholders.
