Environment PS Chris Kiptoo has called on Kenyans to protect the environment from dangerous chemicals.
Kiptoo said Kenyans should be worried of industrial waste which is released into the air, streams, and rivers illegally.
He said industrial waste has led to unpredictable weather patterns.
The PS was speaking when he presided over the launch of the multi-sector committee on sound management of chemicals (MSCM) held at a Nairobi Hotel on Tuesday.
Officials from the ministry of Health, ministry of Industrialization, Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) and National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) attended.
“The National chemical policy 2020 will be instrumental in the management of chemicals and safeguarding the lives of Kenyans from harmful effects of chemicals,” PS Kiptoo said.
He added that the ministry will ensure the environment is protected so that future generations can be safe.
