Hundreds of Kenyans have been left jobless after the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) banned MEET &GREET services at JKIA.
The services famously known in full as MEET, GREET&ASSIST were run by several companies based at Kenya’s premier airport.
Top KAA management has tried to brush off the issue and tasked juniors to respond to media queries.
Without the services, many visitors to Kenya through JKIA will be stranded.
Selina Gor, the JKIA manager referred us to the KAA PRO Angela Tilitei Cherono when asked for a comment.
“This information is not factual. There is a process ongoing of streamlining all operations at the airport to ensure safety, security, and smooth operations. Only those meet & greet services that have been competitively procured and licensed will access the sterile and restricted areas. Kindly note that the public meet and greet area on the landside is open to everyone,” Tilitei said.
Top managers from different Companies that offer the services at JKIA said they will be forced to lay off the workers and shut down.
They appealed to COTU secretary General Francis Atwoli to intervene and help them get their jobs back.
Atwoli did not respond when sought for comment.
