Businessman Jimi Wanjigi’s body guard has denied illegally possessing a firearm.
The bodyguard was arraigned at Milimani Law Courts on Friday for being in possession of a Glock pistol without a license.
Josphat Onyiego Mogendi denied the charges before Milimani Magistrate Wendy Michemi.
According to the charge sheet, Mogendi committed the offence on January 17 at Kwacha house in Westlands , Nairobi.
The Prosecution said Mogendi unlawfully had the said firearm of serial number URT735 without a firearm certificate.
He also denied the second count of being in possession of ammunitions contrary to the law.
According to the charge sheet, he was found in possession of fifteen (15) 9mm rounds without a firearm certificate.
Through his Lawyer Isaac Okinyo, Mogendi requested the court to release him on lenient bond terms.
Lawyer Okinyo told the court that Mogendi was a law abiding citizen and not a flight risk.
He also requested the court to supply him with witness statements and other documentary evidences that the prosecution was going to rely on.
He was released on a cash bail of Sh50, 000.
The case will be mentioned on January 25.
