The Government has appealed to Kenyans not to turn away Census officials’ from their homesteads.
This is after a Kibera family reportedly let loose its fierce dog which made it impossible for Censors officials to access the homestead on Saturday night.
Government Spokesman Cyrus Oguna called on Kenyans to cooperate with the enumerators.
He condemned the Kibera family.
“Support and cooperate with them, already we are going on well. Since yesterday the exercise has been successful,”Oguna said.
Duing a Press briefing in Nairobi, Oguna said that majority of Kenyans have been counted and called upon those who have not to comply before the closure of the exercise.
He also advised leaders not to politicize the whole process.
“No one should use his position to politicize the process, those misadvising their people to go back home should stop,” he said.
He said that the exercise will help the government to plan well for Kenyans.
The National Police Spokesperson Charles Owino cautioned Kenyans who will violate the exercise that they will be taken to court and fined shs 5,000 or face a five-month jail sentence.
