The family of 34 year old Bernard Lukosi who died after having a drink at a restaurant in Nairobi’s downtown wants the police to carry out investigations and bring his killers to book.
Relatives said Bernard Lukosi a father of one was found dead by police in a room at Angels Restaurant in the afternoon of Monday 8th April 2019.
Angels Restaurant is near OTC Bus Park on Ukwala road, off Landhies road as one heads to the Machakos Country bus.
According to the family spokesperson David Kibiti, police said Bernard who was in the company of his younger brother was heading to Thika on Sunday 7th April for a retreat.
However, they parted ways at OTC area since his brother wanted to arrive in Thika early and Bernard remained behind to buy some personal effects.
Investigations reveled that he had lunch and a drink at Athusi Hotel before deciding to visit the nearby stalls to buy personal effects.
However, since it got late, he decided to spend the night in Nairobi and go to Thika early in the morning.
Bernard reportedly went to Angel’s restaurant where he booked a room and told the Hotel staff he was going to withdraw some money from a nearby ATM.
Since then, details of what happened have remained scanty.
On the morning of 8th April, he was reportedly woken up by the Angel’s hotel staff since he had overslept.
“He told the staff that he was not feeling well. He requested that he be allowed to rest since he will top up some money on top of what he had paid” Kibiti told Hot News.
He said that Bernard also requested for some water which he was given by the Hotel staff.
In the evening, the Hotel staff reportedly found him dead when they came to ask him to vacate the room.
Police took his body to City Mortuary and latter called his relatives.
According to the family, the postmortem results showed Bernard Kibiti died from chemical poisoning.
Bernard was the son of mwalimu (retired)Patrick Lukosi Kibiti and madam Emily Lukosi(retired) from Lukesi Village, Machewa location, Saboti division, Trans Nzoia County.
He was a high school teacher of Physics, Mathematics and computer science at Al Suheim Girls Namanga, Kajiado County.
He is a former graduate of Computer Science from Masinde Muliro University.
Bernard will be laid to rest on Saturday 27/04/19.
Facts on Athusi Hotel and Angel’s restaurant
Athusi Hotel is directly opposite the Salvation Army Church along Landhies road. At the entrance there’s a metallic mesh separating the 2 sides of the rooms- on the right hand side is a hotel and on the left is a club.
Angel Restaurant has a hotel on first floor and a club and guest rooms on top floors.
Both Hotels are highly populated with patrons who are mostly visitors in the City.
A spot check by Hot News revealed that the area around the two hotels is frequented in the evening by call Girls and Nairobi’s commercial sex workers.
