Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong on Wednesday visited Kabarnet Gardens Nairobi, the residence of the late retired President Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi, to console with the family.
Moi is Kenya’s longest serving President having governed the Country for 24 years.
Speaking to journalists, the Governor said the fallen President had a firm grip of the country in his 24-year rule, a feat that is no mean achievement.
“To lead millions of people is no joke and not many presidents can match that magnificent feat,” he said.
Ojaamong said Moi will be remembered for steering the country to greater heights.
He added that Moi’s philosophy of peace, love and unity is in line with the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) which aims at uniting Kenyans and increase inclusivity at the national level.
“The late President managed to unite Kenyans; he went around the country building schools, churches and helping women and orphans,” he said.
Moi, the self-proclaimed Professor of Politics died at the Nairobi Hospital on Tuesday morning after ailing for over three months.
Many African and World leaders have sent their condolence messages to the family and friends.
