Former Forestry Minister Noah Wekesa has called on COTU secretary General Francis Atwoli to unite Luhyas.
Wekesa said ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi and Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula have failed to unite Luhyas.
He was speaking during the burial of Alfred Nyairo,a prominent lawyer and a farmer in Trans Nzoia County.
The former Minister said Luhya leaders should front Governor Wycliffe Oparanya and CS Eugene Wamalwa to take over the community’s leadership.
However, Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa threw barbs at him and told him off.
Chris Wamalwa said the community’s leadership cannot be decided by one or two people.
“We know that we only have Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula as our leaders, people will decide in future, remember I also have ambitions “Wamalwa said.
The function was attended by devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa, women representative Janet Nangabo,Kisii Senator Sam Ongeri and MP Richard Onyonka.
The Kiminini MP dismissed the just released census results saying Trans Nzoia has a population of not less than 1.5 million people.
The census results show that Trans Nzoia has a population of 990,000.
The legislature said his Kiminini Constituency should be split into two adding it has the largest population in the county.
He asked president Uhuru not to “undermine the Judiciary”
Wamalwa said Uhuru should allow the hiring of Judges as per the Judicial Service Commission’s recommendations.
On his part , Eugene Wamalwa said Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula took the wrong direction by fielding candidates in Kibra during the concluded by election.
He said such actions derail Luhya unity.
