Several ODM MPs in the National Assembly have come out to support National Assembly Majority leader Aden Duale.
The MPs who hail from Siaya County said “Duale’s impeccable record as majority leader speaks for itself”.
They said Duale has successfully championed for government business in Parliament.
“When he worked with the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga as Assistant Minister for livestock development in the Grand Coalition Government, Duale was smart and delivered. Its only that they latter fell out because of politics,” said the MP who sought anonymity.
The Jubilee Party has effected changes in the Senate.
However, the opposition MPs said Duale should be spared.
Last week, Senate Majority leader Kipchumba Murkomen and Majority Whip Susan Kihika were replaced by Samuel Poghisio and Irungu Kang’ata.
Senate Deputy Speaker Kithure Kindiki was also impeached.
After a four-hour debate in the Senate, 54 senators voted in favor of Kindiki’s impeachment.
On 7 Senators stood by Kindiki.
Those who voted against the impeachment motion were seven.
All those who have been axed from their positions are DP Ruto William Ruto’s allies.
The changes in the Senate were sanctioned by President Uhuru Kenyatta on May 11 and it was speculated that Duale will also to be removed.
Duale has been a staunch supporter of the Jubilee Party and vigorously campaigned for Uhuru in 2013 and 2017 elections.
The ODM MPs said they admire Duale’s aggressive nature and regretted that Raila was not able to woo him to his side in 2013 and 2017.
“Duale is one person we would like to work with. He adds value to every team he joins,” said the law makers.
National Assembly Minority leader John Mbadi, on Thursday told a local daily that Duale has done “a fantastic job and delivered on his mandate.
“It would be unfair to say that Duale has not executed his job well. Duale has not disappointed,” Mbadi told the local Paper.
