Politically speaking, who seems to have benefited most from the frenzy of the Madaraka Day Celebrations in the beautiful county of Narok?
Going by the thunderous applause either at the mention of their names or when speaking, ODM Leader Raila Odinga and Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole Lenku carried the day.
Coincidentally, the two men sat beside each other and were severally beamed LIVE having animated chats throughout the ceremony.
Any mention of Raila was met with spontaneous cheers.
This must have given the Opposition leader a new lease of hope in a County where he narrowly loses to President Kenyatta.
The Purko Clan of the Maasai of which the late William Ole Ntimama belongs to as well as the ODM MP for Narok North, Moitalel Ole Kenta heavily back Mr Odinga and are strongly opposed to DP William Ruto and his key stalwart, Narok Governor Samuel Tunai.
The reception may well mean that should Raila and Ruto meet at the ballot in 2022, Narok would be a key battle ground.
Governor Lenku was heavily cheered when he was invited by Governor Tunai to address the mammoth crowd.
There was even more thunderous applause when Lenku acknowledged Raila as Baba.
Lenku, who referred to short speech notes in crisp and poetic language, would be cheered when he waded into land matter and the Mau Complex issue.
On Mau, he categorically supported the President’s effort to save the Mau for the sake of the “Maa nation and its future generations”.
Early into his speech, Lenku was cheered when he Welcomed Uhuru ” HOME” saying the President’s lineage can be traced to Narok County. “Na Hiyo tunajua”, said Lenku.
