There was drama at JKIA on Sunday between Tour Guides and Kenya Airports Authority officers after several Tour Vans were clamped.
The scuffle, that occurred when some tourists who had just landed in the country had boarded their Vans to various destinations, paints to an Airport with poor PR.
“This afternoon Terminal 1E tour vehicles were clamped for parking yet the Kenya Airports Authority are the ones who allocated tour vehicles the same parking slots. This is a very shameful incident that should not be repeated especially with our respected guests seated in the vehicles ready to enjoy the once in a lifetime experience,” one Guide told Hot News.
Other guides went on to complain that they are annoyed when illegal porters forcefully take possession of clients trolleys and forcefully demand tips before releasing the trolley back to the guests.
They called on KAA to get rid of these Porters at JKIA.
During the ugly incident, Senior officers from the Tourism Police and the Kenya Tourism Federation had to intervene to have the vehicles unclamped.
“The Kenya Airports Authority staff should respect our esteemed guests by allocating tour vehicles the same parking slots instead of embarrassing Kenya as a rogue destination. Its shameful on their part,” the Guides said.
