The State will set aside a day to honor the late Nairobi Archbishop Ndingi Mwana a’Nzeki after the Covid -19 pandemic is contained.
This was announced on Tuesday by President Uhuru Kenyatta after the late Archbishop Ndingi’s remains were interred at a crypt at the Holy Family Minor Basilica in Nairobi.
Uhuru’s representative at the funeral service Kennedy Kairo said the President was saddened by the demise of the Cleric.
“The president has said will have a date latter to celebrate his life. Talk of his contribution to the development of the Country and bid him farewell, “Kairo said.
The low-key burial was attended by few leaders, clergy and family members.
The Mass was led by Cardinal John Njue.
The Archbishop died last week on Tuesday morning.
The mass attended by less than 100 people after the ban on public gatherings by the state.
Most Catholics who knew Ndingi were saddened by the fact that they could not be able to attend his burial because of the travel restrictions.
The State has banned movement in and out of Nairobi for the next 21 days to contain the spread of Covid -19.
